Open Water Swimming for the Week of September 19

Another big weekend for open water swimming in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  This weekend there are three swimming opportunities and a local race.

SATURDAY:

• Triple Threat Tough hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Windsurf Bay Park in Garland.


• How about a local racing opportunity?  Challenge yourself at the open water swim races held the day before the Stonebridge Ranch Triathlon in McKinney, Texas.  You have the choice of a 750m swim, a 1500m swim, or you can do both!

SUNDAY:

• Tri-Now Endurance hosts an open water swim from 7:30 - 8:30 AM at Cottonwood Creek Marina in Little Elm.


• Triple Threat Tough hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Rockwall Harbor where the US Open Triathlon will be held.  If you are signed up for US Open this is a unique chance to swim the course in advance.

Get out and swim!

Open Water Swimming for the Week of September 5

Another HUGE week for open water swimming in the south/southwest.  How about three swimming opportunities and two races??

SATURDAY:

• Triple Threat Tough hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Windsurf Bay Park in Garland.


• How about a race?  Challenge yourself at the Toad Suck Open Water Swim (1500 meters) at Lake Conway northwest of Little Rock, Arkansas.

SUNDAY:

• Tri-Now Endurance hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Cottonwood Creek Marina in Little Elm.


• IronTex hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Lake View Park in Grapevine.


• How about another race?  Go the distance(s) at the Tallchief Open Water Challenge (1/2 mile, 1 mile and 2 mile distances) at Tallchief Lake, Zink Ranch, Sand Springs, Oklahoma (near Tulsa).  I did this race last year and it was a blast, even though I got a black eye!

For those of you willing to travel a little farther, come join me at the Big Shoulders 5k swim in Chicago.  Challenge yourself against the elements (and cold water) of Lake Michigan.

Open Water Swimming for the Week of August 29

Several good swimming opportunities this weekend.  Get out there and support OWS in DFW.

SATURDAY:

• Triple Threat Tough hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Windsurf Bay Park in Garland.

SUNDAY:

• IronTex hosts an open water swim at Lake View Park in Grapevine.  The swim will follow a 100 minute run that will start at 6:00 AM.


• Triple Threat Tough hosts an open water swim from 7:00 - 8:00 AM at Pier 121 Marina on Lake Lewisville in Lewisville.
